The core business of The Art Therapy Centre is to create broad-based access to Art Counselling in order to cater to the extent of therapeutic need in South Africa. Services are aimed at creating safe and nurturing spaces for people who live in a context of HIV and AIDS, violence, abuse, disability, stigmatisation and poverty.

Our model ensures the training and placement of 24 Art Counsellors in under-resourced communities every two years. Each counsellor has the potential to reach 100 - 400 people in need on an annual basis (depending on the length of interventions). After a 6 year period this means that between 7 200 – 28 800 people will have access to Art Counselling services.

As an NGO The Art Therapy Centre relies on funding. Any donations received are used towards infrastructural costs and training.
